How the route is worked out
Every Digimon in Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a stop on a map, and every digivolution is a road you can travel in either direction: up the line (▲ digivolve) or back down it (▼ de-digivolve). The finder searches that map for the route with the fewest steps.
The shortest route is rarely a straight climb. Getting to a Mega on another branch usually means de-digivolving first, until you reach a form both lines share, and then climbing from there. When several routes tie for shortest, one of them is shown.
